Phililppine Coffee Quality Competition

THE BEST ARABICA & ROBUSTA COFFEES IN THE PHILIPPINES

The PCQC is an annual green coffee competition that seeks to increase the consciousness of Filipino farmers on coffee quality and encourages them to improve their competitiveness in the domestic and international markets.

The Department of Agriculture (DA), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), ACDI/VOCA, Barista and Coffee Academy of Asia (BCAA), and most recently, the Philippine Coffee Guild (PCG), have organized PCQC since 2017.

They seek to promote Philippine coffee locally and internationally, specifically Arabica and Robusta. The competition uses the Coffee Quality Institute’s (CQI) internationally accepted grading and profiling protocols.

“This auction opens doors for the winning coffee farmers to showcase their hard work and have a fair chance of selling their coffees both in local and international markets at very rewarding prices. It also builds economic relationships with the marketplace and financially motivates them to stay in the farm and continuously improve their coffee.”

Ron Yu, Executive Director of The Philippine Coffee Guild (PCG), an organizer of the 2023 PCQC

The labor behind the harvest is in the hands of these farmers who will be featured daily as we countdown to the 2023 PCQC Auction!

Philippine coffee sector remains in need of support

Despite significant progress in recent years, the Philippine coffee sector remains in need of support to realize its full potential and deliver improved livelihood opportunities to farmers throughout the country. PhilCAFE is building on the the success of the Mindanao Productivity in Agricultural Commerce and Trade (MinPACT) project and capitalizing on ACDI/VOCA’s extensive network and reputation from working in tree crops and other sectors in the Philippines for over 25 years.
